VILLAGES

The project was initiated by the communities themselves. They first built bungalows in Ouallah 2 and Itsamia in order to receive tourists. Thereafter, the European Union decided to help build a community tourism network in order to better promote the island and financed the construction of the Maison de l’ecotourisme de Moheli and of new bungalows in Miringoni and Ouallah 2.

The main goal of the project is to create a model of community tourism on Moheli, in order to alleviate poverty and promote environmental conservation, while offering the visitor the experience he wants.

	Village of Itsamia This small village is home to 600 hundred humans… and hundreds of sea turtles that come lay their eggs at night. You can sleep in bungalows for 6000 Fc per double room including breakfast, and a traditional meal will cost you 2000 Fc.
	Village of Ouallah 1 This small village off the beach is really pretty, and the mountain nearby is home to the giant Livingstone fruit bat. You can sleep in bungalows for 6000 Fc per double room including breakfast, and a traditional meal will cost you 2000 Fc.
	Village of Ouallah 2 This village is home to the beautiful calm beach of Sambadjou. There is also a beautiful waterfall nearby and mangroves. You can go on a boat excursion from there to explore the parc marin. You can sleep in bungalows for 6000 Fc per double room including breakfast, and a traditional meal will cost you 2000 Fc .
	Village of Nioumachoua This village faces the offshore islets of the marine park, and offers a good opportunity to go explore them. It is home to one of the most beautiful beaches of Mohéli and of the Comoros. You can sleep in bungalows for 6000 Fc per double room including breakfast, and a traditional meal will cost you 2000 Fc. You can sleep also in the LAKA LOFGE a Bungalows Hotel, the most upmarket hotel on the island.
	Village of Hoani This village is the peaceful home of fishermen, with a good beach, and provides opportunities to go whale watching. You can sleep in bungalows for 6000 Fc per double room including breakfast, and a traditional meal will cost you 2000 Fc .
	Village of Miringoni This village is set on a beautiful cliff overlooking the sea, and is close to the Chalet Saint Antoine, for a good hike up the mountain for incredible views.
