The Maison de l’Ecotourisme de Moheli and this website have been developed thanks to a grant from the 8th European Fund for Development through the Programme Pluriannuel des Micro Réalisations, le PPMR.

The project was initiated by the communities themselves. They first built bungalows in Ouallah 2 and Itsamia in order to receive tourists. Thereafter, the European Union decided to help build a community tourism network in order to better promote the island and financed the construction of the Maison de l’ecotourisme de Moheli and of new bungalows in Miringoni and Ouallah 2.

The main goal of the project is to create a model of community tourism on Moheli, in order to alleviate poverty and promote environmental conservation, while offering the visitor the experience he wants.
